Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in television, film and theatre. Her most well-known role is Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer in The Showtime program Soul Food. The actress is known under her married name, Nikki Kodjoe. The talent she displayed in her acting was apparent in her early years. A Maryland high school contest gave her with the award for best actress. Her acting career began after she joined the Washington Ballet Company and theatre. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut role in a feature film was a huge success and earned her the admiration of many. It was then followed by films such as "Boogie Nights Spark, Blue Streak". Soul Food was an immensely popular TV series. She also appeared in TV shows like Second Time Around' and Empire. At the beginning of her career, she appeared in several stage plays. Parker who has a keen political interest, is married with actor/model Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two kids.

Contractor who was born and raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai prior to turning 7years old, traveled all over across the globe and lived through diverse cultures when he was a kid. The boarding school she attended was in London between seven and nine years of age, and then her family relocated towards Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a fine arts institution focused on theatre and dance. Contractor was dancing for more than ten years at that time when she decided to concentrate on acting. Upon graduating from high school she was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Toronto, where she pursued a masters in the field of theatre, and a double major in sociology and psychology. After a single year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the play Pericles at the prestigious, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the role of lead. After 92 performances, she received positive reviews. The play was deemed the best production in Canada by the critics. The conservatory in Stratford is home to eight males as well as four females and a handful of others for a weeks of crash courses. Her place in the upcoming play season was secured and she won the role as Hermia.
